There’s something to be said for a UK tourist who will brave a cyclone in order to share his wisdom with REIQ’s regional members. Undeterred by the “hairy flight” and cyclonic conditions Townsville presented yesterday, leading UK real estate consultant Richard Rawlings presented at the first ever REIQ/Aon North Queensland Breakfast at Jupiters Townsville this morning.
After a very well received Principal Licensee Luncheon speech in Brisbane last Friday, Richard had the NQ crowd spellbound with his practical and positive bag of marketing tricks for agencies in a tough market. His international perspective was a welcome change, with attendees taking home tips based on how his European clients have survived the recession.
A key message I took home: your customers don’t know what they want – it’s your job to tell them (did Richard Branson’s customers ask for inflight Indian head massages? No, he went beyond their preliminary “wants” to create innovative customer service).
On a side note, the events team were very excited to have our friends from NAR give a US market update at the Principal Licensee Luncheon on Friday. If you missed it, we are pleased to report positive trends for our American counterparts.
So as the clean-up of Townsville continues today, so does the North Queensland Convention. Thank you to all the members who have supported this first time event, we greatly appreciate it. And thanks too to our speaker Richard Rawlings. You’ve managed to survive Queensland – let’s hope that cyclone doesn’t follow you to REIWA!
Those of you who attended either event, I’d love to get your feedback!
