ABS stats show Qld market kicking into gear

Good housing finance figures for Queensland over the month of March, according to the latest from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Owner-occupiers were up for the second month running. First home buyers nudged up slightly to 19.5 per cent of total dwellings financed (for owner-occupiers). A great result given first-timers had been mostly out of the picture since about 2010.

The March quarter aggregate figure shows steady results for owner occupiers compared to the December quarter – however they are up substantially compared to the March quarter last year

The investor finance figures come out tomorrow, which I expect will result in total residential dwellings financed for the March quarter being higher than the December quarter.

The REIQ March quarter median house prices are released this Saturday in the Courier Mail – how do you think the market has performed so far this year?
