Top 5 property podcasts

posted in: Information, News | 0

Whether you’re a first home buyer or property investor you want to seek out information and data to help you make informed decisions.

While the pillars of  communication are still standing – newspapers, books and magazines – they’re not the only media available. Many savvy people are turning to social and digital media for info. But as the content is often the same, what is the advantage of using new media for research?

  • Digital media can respond to news quicker, so you get the latest views, opinions and facts right now;
  • It is available on demand, you can access it anywhere at any time;
  • It’s often free;
  • You can respond and read responses, adding a layer of ground-truth richness to the information;
  • These media can be searched for keywords, helping you find what you’re looking for;
  • Formats like podcasts can be listened to while on the way to work or while you do something else, so as to not eat into your already busy schedule.

So, what podcasts are out there for property investors and home buyers?

These may not be the top 5 property podcasts, but they are the ones I listen to – and they are in no particular order. If you’d like to share another, feel free to do it in the comments.

Design is everywhere in our lives, perhaps most importantly in the places where we’ve just stopped noticing.

This isn’t a property or real estate podcast. It’s a project of KALW, the American Institute of Architects, San Francisco and the Center for Architecture and Design. It provides inspirational stories about people and the built environment. A good program if you’ve ever wondered if a broken window could change someone’s life or what the story is behind public staircases?

Australian Property Investor

One of Australia’s leading sources of info about property investing. Australian Property Investor (API) is an authoritative source for information about real estate investing, buying a home, renovating, small developments and much more. API’s deputy editor is also a regular contributor to this blog site.

API magazine is a popular real estate magazine. This podcast from API provides additional information for free. The podcast is still new, having started in November last year.

ASX Investor Update podcast

The ASX Investor Update Podcast is a fresh new way that the ASX can keep you updated with fundamental issues related to sharemarket investing.

A wealth of content and also offers investment advice.

Everyday Property Investing

The Everyday Property Investing podcast is one of Australia’s top property and investing podcast, and provides entertaining and informative shows for property investors or those wanting to get started in property investing.

Highly rated and respected, the podcast shares an honest perspective of everyday property investors. Well worth a listen. As a side note, I don’t think I’ve seen so many friendly and positive comments on an investment focused podcast before.

I couldn’t talk about real estate podcasts without spruiking REIQ TV, but I haven’t included it in the top 5 in the interest of being unbiased.

REIQ TV

Featuring a host of experts, REIQ TV has the latest news and views on the Queensland property market.

Our podcast draws on our connection with many professionals in the real estate industry. It offers information on the industry, the market and how different processes work. It’s a video podcast (sometimes referred to as a vodcast). It’s in its second season and was #1 in the new and noteworthy section of iTunes for its first three months.
