THE REIQ has appointed a new Toowoomba Zone Chair, replacing the outgoing chair, David Snow, from Peter Snow & Co.

The new Toowoomba Zone Chair is Katie Knight from RE/MAX Success, taking over the role from Mr Snow, who resigned his position after more than five years in the role, citing time constraints due to a busy real estate business and his forthcoming role as the President of the Toowoomba Rotary Club 2019 – 2020.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella congratulated Mr Snow on his distinguished record representing the REIQ in Toowoomba.

“David was a wonderful spokesperson and had more than 35 years of real estate experience behind him. He understood the many moving parts of the local economy and local real estate market and was very articulate on all issues. He will be missed,” she said.

Mr Snow said he would miss being the local ‘face’ of the REIQ but was encouraged by the quality of contenders for the role within the profession.

“There are only a finite number of hours in the day and I feel that it’s time to take on the new challenges of the Rotary role. I’ve enjoyed my time as the REIQ Toowoomba Zone Chair and I continue to support the important work the REIQ is doing leading the real estate industry,” Mr Snow said.

Replacing Mr Snow is the reigning REIQ Property Manager of the Year Katie Knight.

Ms Knight was named earlier this year as the REIQ 2019 Residential Property Manager of the Year and has won the distinguished Property Manager of the Year award a record six times. She is an exceptional representative of the real estate profession.

“Those who know Katie know that she is extremely experienced, very knowledgeable, very professional and a great ambassador of the real estate profession. We couldn’t be more thrilled to appoint Katie to this role,” Ms Mercorella said.

Ms Knight said she was excited about the challenges of the role and relished the opportunity to represent the REIQ in Toowoomba.

“This is such an exciting market and there’s so much that the REIQ is doing at the moment. I’m really thrilled to formally join the organisation at this important time when they are leading the fight against negative gearing and fighting for a fair and balanced rental market for both renters, landlords and property managers,” she said.
