Voting has now opened for the REIQ’s Board of Director elections.
Eligible members can now vote for candidates to fill one Female Member Director position and one General Member Director position.
REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella says it is pleasing to not only see a high number of nominations, but an impressive calibre of candidates also.
Ms Mercorella is calling for all eligible voters to complete their ballot form by the cut-off date of Wednesday, 23rd October at 12pm.
“Every vote counts,” says Ms Mercorella.
“This election is your chance to decide upon the future decision makers of the REIQ and the broader Queensland real estate sector.
“With electronic voting, it only takes five minutes to influence the future of the peak body of Queensland real estate.”
The Institute’s Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing advocacy work the REIQ undertakes, as well as making decisions in the interest of both the membership and real estate profession.
Earlier this year, the REIQ tirelessly lobbied against Labor’s negative gearing reforms, which would have brought uncertainty and destabilisation to the Queensland property market and broader economy.
The organisation has also campaigned heavily for the Queensland First Home Owners Grant to include existing properties, particularly for first home buyers in regional areas.
It is important for voters to familiarise themselves with the candidates and their positions on topical issues within the real estate profession.
Voters can access the candidates’ statements via the REIQ website here.
Who are the candidates?:
This year, there are 11 candidates for the Female Member Director position, and four for the general member director position. Keep an eye out on the REIQ Insider over the coming weeks to learn more about the nominees.
